Install
Install
Run the installer and approve the UAC prompt — Fanture needs it once, to register its background service. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning first if the installer is new or not yet widely seen; that’s expected for a small, newly-published app and clears up as more people run it.
The installer does three things:
- Installs the app to
Program Files\Fanture. - Installs the PawnIO driver, which the service needs to read most sensors and control fans. This step is silent and only runs if PawnIO isn’t already on your machine.
- Registers
Fantureas a Windows service, set to start automatically, and starts it.
The app itself (Fanture.exe) runs as you, the logged-in user — no elevation, no UAC prompt after
install. Only the background service runs with the higher privileges fan control actually needs.
First run
On first launch, Fanture checks whether the PawnIO driver is reachable and tells you either way. If it isn’t — the driver failed to install, or something’s blocking it — CPU temperature and most fan control won’t work until that’s resolved; reinstalling Fanture reinstalls the driver too.
Pin the tray icon if Windows hides it, which is the default for any new tray app on Windows 11.
Uninstall
Uninstalling stops the service first, which hands every fan back to BIOS/automatic control — the same thing that happens if the service is ever stopped some other way. Your saved profiles and settings stay on disk unless you remove them yourself; see Troubleshooting for where they live.
